By downloading, installing, or using Auslan Dictionary ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the App.
Auslan Dictionary is a free, open-source video dictionary for Australian Sign Language (Auslan). The App provides access to sign language video content sourced from Auslan Signbank.
The App is provided free of charge, on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranty of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the developer of Auslan Dictionary shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from:
• Your use of or inability to use the App
• Any errors, mistakes, or inaccuracies in the content
• Any interruption or cessation of the service
• Any bugs, viruses, or other harmful components transmitted through the App
The App is an educational tool and reference resource. It is not a substitute for professional Auslan instruction, interpretation services, or any other professional advice. You should not rely solely on the App for communication in situations where accuracy is critical.
The Auslan information (including videos) displayed in the App is sourced from Auslan Signbank (Johnston, T., & Cassidy, S. (2008). Auslan Signbank. Sydney: Macquarie University & Trevor Johnston). This content is licensed under Creative Commons BY-NC-ND 4.0. Only some of the information relating to each sign found on Auslan Signbank is displayed in the App.
The App's source code is available under the GNU General Public License v3. The sign language content within the App is licensed separately as described above and remains the property of its respective owners.
The dictionary works entirely on your device and collects nothing. The optional shared-lists feature requires you to sign in and stores a small amount of data so that sharing can work. See our Privacy Policy for the full details.
We make no guarantee that the App will be available at all times or that it will continue to be maintained or updated. The service may be modified, suspended, or discontinued at any time without notice or liability.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the developer of Auslan Dictionary from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising out of or related to your use of the App or violation of these terms.
These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law, without regard to conflict of law principles.
We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Updated terms will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
If you have questions about these terms, you can open an issue on our GitHub repository.
